Public transportation

Palma has an extensive bus system operated by Empresa Municipal de Transports de Palma de Mallorca (ETM) (Tel: 900 700 710. Internet: http://www.emtpalma.es/). There are more than 20 bus routes, the majority of which run between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. / 10 p.m.

Most buses stop at Placa d’Espanya bus station. Timetables and plans with bus routes are posted at every bus stop.

If several bus trips are planned, it is worth buying a booklet with tickets (targeta 10 viatges urbana). Driving at reduced prices is offered to students and pensioners, children under 14 years travel for free.

The metro line has nine stops and connects the city center with the campus of the University of the Balearic Islands .

Taxis

Taxis can be hailed from the side of the road. They are also available at taxi ranks. A green light labeled lliure or libre indicates that the taxi is free. Taxis can be ordered in advance via Taxi Palma Radio (Tel: (971) 401 414; Internet: http://www.taxispalmaradio.com/).
