Feast day of Saint Anthony

Every year on January 17th, on the feast day of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of animals, a parade with animals takes place through Palma. Everywhere in the Balearic Islands, a folk festival in honor of Saint Anthony is celebrated on January 17th, starting on the eve of January 17th with masked people dancing around a campfire.

Feast day of Saint Sebastian

Holy Week (Semana Santa)

Holy Week (Semana Santa) is celebrated all over the island with Easter masses and processions. In Palma, the Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday procession, in which the figure of Cristo de la Sangre is carried through the streets, is particularly recommended.

Dia de Virgen del Carmen

A parade in honor of the Virgin Mary del Carmen takes place on the Dia de Virgen del Carmen in July, and fishing boats are blessed. The Virgin Mary del Carmen is the patron saint of sailors and fishermen. The harbors and statues are adorned everywhere.

Festa de l’Estendard

On December 31, at the Festa de l’Estendard, a parade commemorates the Catalan conquest of the island in 1229. Flowers and wreaths are laid on the statue of King Jaume I, the royal standard leads the parade. Then there are shows and a folk festival with lots of music.
